Sustainability in the Premier League
This week Brentford FC announced that they would continue to use their current home kit for the 21/22 season to be more sustainable and reduce their impact on the environment.
This follows the world’s first net zero football match played earlier this season between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, and Arsenal becoming the first Premier League club to switch to 100% green electricity.

We gather millions of data points every day to help businesses to lower their utility consumption, reduce leakage, cut carbon and improve their services.
We are proud to support several Premier League clubs including: Manchester City, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and soon to be Wolverhampton Wanderers in their efforts to be more environmentally sustainable and reduce their water consumption.
It it great to see Premier League clubs implement strategies to be more sustainable as Football Clubs and improve the environment we live in.

Why tackling water sustainability in the Premier League is so important
With increasing demand and leaking networks we are predicted to have major water shortages by 2035. Protecting water has never been as important as it is today.
Water usage is also an important component in reducing our carbon footprint. Greenhouse gas emissions are produced every time we use water in any way, recently it was revealed that 6% of UK carbon emissions are attributed to water alone.
The future of football
Coronavirus halted football and what the pandemic has shown us, is how fragile our world really is.
So now more than ever, let’s protect our future by taking simple steps to use water more sustainably.

How green are Premier League clubs?
BBC Sport has worked with the United Nations-backed Sport Positive Summit, to compile research into the sustainability of all 20 Premier League clubs.
They were provide evidence of schemes in eight categories:
- clean energy
- energy efficiency
- sustainable transport
- single-use plastic reduction or removal
- waste management
- water efficiency
- plant-based or low-carbon food options
- communications or engagement
Clubs are awarded one point per category if they had suitable initiatives taking place in their stadiums, training grounds and/or offices and half a point if plans were being developed in that area but were yet to fully materialise
