Richard Hannon is a name synonymous with horse racing. As one of the world’s leading trainers, Hannon comes from a family with a long tradition of horse racing – with his father Richard Hannon Sr being a top trainer, as well as his grandfather, Harry.
With our monitoring system, R. Hannon Racing can monitor how much water a horse is consuming 24/7, 365 days a year. Previously, as the yard used an automatic water system there was no way to know how much water was being drunk, if any.
By assessing how often the horses’ drinking water automatically refills itself and monitoring the stable temperature you are able to calculate consumption. Our technology helps trainers to have a better understanding of just what their horses are consuming and how this might affect their performance.
Just like a top athlete monitoring what they eat and drink in order to be at the top of their game – the same principle can be applied to racehorses. With our system, information on what the horse is consuming may be compared to how the horse is performing which in turn may provide a valuable insight into how a racehorse can remain at the top of its game!
With racehorses being highly trained, any information relating to their health and welfare cannot be underestimated and may provide a new way to explore how their environment can affect their performance.
We are very excited for the opportunity to work with R. Hannon racing and look forward to utilising this technology within the racing community.
